Design that hands systems back to the people who use them.

Henry Stankiewicz | Assistant Professor of Graphic Design | Design Technologist

Heritage environments that restrict access, professional tools built for experts rather than practitioners, community stories told through institutions rather than the communities themselves: in each one, the people a system was built for end up on the outside. My work closes that distance and puts control back in their hands.

Pedagogy

Research-informed instruction bridging immersive storytelling, motion design, and foundational professional practice.

My teaching connects immersive research to the classroom. I authored the proposal for the Robert Busch School of Design's first graduate degree, coordinate the Motion Design and XR curriculum across the Michael Graves College, and mentor more than 50 seniors a year, with community-engaged projects running through the Happiness Collaborative.

Service

Institutional stewardship that shapes the university's systems around the work its researchers actually do.

I serve across governance, research infrastructure, and technology policy, helping the institution meet R2 expectations, adopt generative AI responsibly, and clear the path between faculty and the tools their work depends on.
